MIAMI BEACH, FL (NOVEMBER 10, 2006)-The Wolfsonian–Florida International University presents a selection of minimalist silver jewelry, designed by artist Sheva Fruitman, from December 5 -10, 2006, for sale at The Dynamo Museum Shop. The exhibition will include pieces made of sterling silver, stones, rope, and string, inspired by the minimalist aesthetic of Agnes Martin, Carl Andre, American Modernism, and Bauhaus architecture.

Fruitman’s jewelry is minimal art to wear. With these pieces, wearers may rearrange and build their own sculptures, alternating between geometric solids and voids, and continually express their own creativity. In a sense, wearers may become their own architect of a personal, “built” environment.

Fruitman’s work is being presented in conjunction with Modernism in American Silver: 20th-Century Design, a groundbreaking exhibition exploring the aesthetic richness and cultural significance of modern silver design in America between 1925 and 2000, on view at The Wolfsonian from November 10, 2006, through March 25, 2007.

Sheva Fruitman is an artist and designer based in New York City. Her work has been exhibited in New York, London, Paris, Amsterdam, Tokyo, Milan, and Marrakech. She is represented by Staley-Wise Gallery, New York; Photographers Gallery, London; and Lucie Weill & Seligmann, and IBU, both in Paris. Her work is represented in various museums and in private collections including the Victoria and Albert Museum, Citibank, Polaroid, Ralph Lauren, and Paul Smith. Her jewelry has appeared frequently in Vogue magazine. A recent show of her jewelry in Paris at Karry ‘O was a huge success.
