PHILANTHROPIST KIRK LANDON HONORED AT THE WOLFSONIAN–FIU

MIAMI BEACH, FL (June 26, 2008)―R. Kirk Landon, a Florida International University (FIU) trustee and one of its most important private supporters, was honored at a special dinner at The Wolfsonian-FIU in Miami Beach. Landon, known as one of Miami’s most generous philanthropists, recently donated funds to the museum to create the R. Kirk Landon Deputy Director for Development position. The position will allow the museum to continue its path of growth and excellence. FIU Foundation director and Wolfsonian advisory board president, Ray Marchman, who generously underwrote the dinner, greeted guests and introduced FIU president Modesto Maidique. President Maidique lauded Landon for the role he has played at FIU and now for his gift to the museum The dinner, prepared by Lyon & Lyon, the in-house catering firm at The Wolfsonian–FIU, began with a cocktail party in the museum’s Dynamo Café, followed by sit-down dinner in its elegant lobby. Superb wines were donated by Robert Mondavi Winery. Among those attending were: Wolfsonian board members: Gonzalo Acevedo, Marisa Fort, Rene Gonzalez, Iran Issa-Khan, Ray Marchman, Rob Schechter (and his wife Terry), Philip Scaturro, Patricia Wallace (and her husband Milton), and Louis Wolfson (and his wife Ellen). Other guests included: Marisa Cisneros-Rizzon and her husband Marcos, Pamela Garrison, Marvin Ross Friedman and Adrienne B. Haes, Sandra Seligman and Gil Glassberg, noted artist James Rosenquist, and City of Miami Beach Commissioners Sol Gross and DeeDee Weithorn.

The museum is open Monday, Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday from noon-6pm; Thursday and Friday from noon-9pm; and is closed on Wednesday.
