MIAMI BEACH, FL (April 22, 2009)―We want you! The Wolfsonian–Florida International University is calling all socially-conscious individuals to kick off its newly-formed, community service-oriented initiative, Wolf Pack Gives Back, on Thursday, April 23rd. This is a great opportunity to help others in the community by contributing your time and skills, while also networking and making new friends. Participants even have the opportunity to gain discounted memberships to The Wolfsonian.

The Wolf Pack Gives Back launches on Thursday, April 23 at 7pm at The Wolfsonian. The inaugural event begins with a discussion on community activism, moderated by Ted Baker, a landscape architect and retired FIU professor. The talk will be followed by a screening of the documentary Eden’s Lost and FoundPhiladelphia (2006, USA, Harry Wiland, 57 min, English, color, DVD), an example of how community-based volunteer groups in Philadelphia bettered their community despite budget cuts. The lecture and film screening is free and open to the public.

Upcoming dates for community service opportunities are scheduled for Saturdays, May 9, June 6, and July 11, 2009. Tentative projects may include volunteering at Habitat for Humanity of Greater Miami, Shake-A-Leg-Miami, and Lotus House, among others; future times will be determined and all information will be discussed at the launch event on April 23rd.
