See all of this -- and MORE -- when Cinema Vortex premieres "Public Domain Playhouse: Scenes from the House Beautiful," a selection of hilarious, nostalgic and sometimes chilling vintage film that records America's ageless obsession with home décor. See the FREE World Premiere of "Scenes from the House Beautiful" at 7:00 pm on Friday, April 22 at "Free Fridays at the Wolf," the Wolfsonian-FIU's hot new event. Admission to the screening and the Wolfsonian's galleries is free beginning at 6:00 PM. "Scenes," curated by Vortex Co-Programmer Kevin Wynn, riffs on "Evolution/Revolution: A Century of Modern Seating," an exhibition now on view at the Wolfsonian. "Evolution/Revolution" is also open free to visitors after 6:00 pm on April 22. Many of the films selected for "Scenes" feature the architecture and design of the 1950s and 1960s - a flamboyant strain of modernist design that has come to be known as Mid-Century Modern or Populuxe. Its icons are massive cars bristling with tailfins and chrome, suave and curvaceous Eames chairs and the over-the-top architecture of Edward Durrell Stone and Morris Lapidus. Watch classic clips!
