Research Opportunities

The Wolfsonian is committed to promoting research on its collections. Through its fellowship program, The Wolfsonian hosts five to six researchers each year for visits of roughly one month. The Wolfsonian also welcomes researchers who wish to make their own arrangements to visit the museum. Information about how to arrange a research visit can be found in the “Research Guide to the Collections of The Wolfsonian–FIU.”

Several sources of information about The Wolfsonian’s collections are available. The Wolfsonian’s library has an online catalog (although this does not contain all of the records for the library collection). Scholars may also consult the “Research guide,” which provides descriptions of key areas of The Wolfsonian’s collections. Scholars are also encouraged to contact The Wolfsonian’s Fellowship Coordinator (research@thewolf.fiu.edu, 305.535.2613) to learn more about the collections.

The Wolfsonian is a member of the Association of Research Institutes in Art History (ARIAH). Founded in 1988, ARIAH promotes scholarship at institutes of advanced research in the history of art and other disciplines and develops cooperative projects. It has twenty-one member institutions, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Getty Research Institute, and the Center for Advanced Studies in the Visual Arts.

Florida International University faculty who would like to arrange class visits to The Wolfsonian should contact Regina Bailey (regina@thewolf.fiu.edu, 305.535.2649).
