Stile Floreale: The Cult of Nature in Italian Design
(The Wolfsonian Foundation,1988; 127 pages, paperback $25) was written by Gabriel P. Weisberg, professor of art history at the University of Minnesota and an internationally renowned scholar in the field of Art Nouveau. The catalog, which accompanied the show of the same name (see Past Exhibitions in the Exhibitions section of this Web site), brings to light important new information about the role of Italian designer Agostino Lauro in the development of Art Nouveau, and traces his familiarity with William Morris and the English Arts and Crafts movement as well as the Jugendstil and Art Nouveau developments throughout Europe. It was published in 1988 by The Wolfsonian Foundation and distributed by the University of Washington Press. It is available through The Wolfsonian-FIU museum shop by calling 305.535.2680 or e-mail museumshop@thewolf.fiu.edu.
